Resource Planning Summit (RPS) 8, Nashville, TN
RPS 8 took place in Nashville, TN at the beautiful Hutton Hotel. In addition to a fun tour and rousing evening at the George Jones Museum and a splendid show and backstage tour at the Grand Ole Opry, we had a conference packed full with excellent speakers, lots of networking, and valuable takeaways. This year offered an excellent lineup of speakers, including leading experts, authors, and practitioners in the world of resource and portfolio management, including PMI fellow Frank Saladis; author Jerry Manas; Donna Fitzgerald of Nimble PM; Heather Casey of Lead Strong 414; Daniel Kruse of PNC Bank; Captain Kevin Smith, U.S. Navy (Ret.); Baruch Gabo, Paul Samarel, Phil Wolf, and Peter Heinrich from PDWare; Mark Zachman from Trimble; Molly Wilde and MayAnn Severud from Upsher-Smith; a panel on strategic resource planning with Philip Matthew, Therese Klein, and Kenny Turner; and a panel on resource planning challenges and benefits with Gavin Wadas, Deborah Sloane, and Mike Fay,
In addition to noted business speakers, we also had some exciting special guests to present on lessons from the world of entertainment. Filmmaker/screenwriter David Hayter (X-Men, Watchmen, and more) shared team-building lessons from the fictional world of superheroes as well as real-life superheroes, the teams that make the films, amid high complexity, constant change, and tight deadlines! And this being Nashville, noted songwriter and humorist Patrick Henry was on hand to show how to keep your resource management team in tune—literally. YouTube celebrity Judson Laippley (the Evolution of Dance) not only entertained everyone, but offered timeless insights applicable in the world of resource management.
